Meriankkuri Oy is a shipping company that owns a fleet of nine vessels. The company owns two fast motorboats. It also has two subsidiaries, LP Management Oy and Toppilan Möljä Oy.

LP Management owns three steamships located in Savonlinna. Toppilan Möljä owns the tugboat Alpo in Oulu, as well as the company’s largest vessel, the 40-metre-long Terwatoppila in Helsinki. In addition, Toppilan Möljä owns the world’s oldest steam tug, SS Rauha, which is located in Savonlinna.

MANAGING DIRECTOR, FLEET OWNER

The founder of Meriankkuri Oy is Markku Kankaala, a multi-industry entrepreneur from Ii in northern Finland. Markku has always had a strong interest in boats and boating. He has been at sea since childhood in Raahe and has owned boats throughout his adult life. Over time, his boating hobby gradually expanded, and he acquired a variety of vessels for different purposes. The company’s actual shipping operations began in 2018, when the first motor yacht, Sunseeker Manhattan 60, was acquired. Since then, the fleet has changed several times and grown in size. The companies Meriankkuri Oy (formerly RukaTop Oy), LP Management Oy, and Toppilan Möljä Oy were all established around boating activities.







HISTORY


From Rukatop to fleet owner - from the top of the fell to the sea

YEAR 2007

Rukatop villa was built on top of Ruka in 2007.

YEAR 2018

The Rukatop villa was sold and the company acquired its first ship, the Sunseeker Manhattan 60. That was when the direction turned to the future shipping company. 

YEAR 2019

Meriankkuri Oy (formerly Rukatop Oy) acquired 45% of the steamship company LP Management Oy (VIP Cruise), which has four steamships.

YEAR 2020

Meriankkuri Oy bought 30% of Toppila Möljä Oy, which owns several different vessels.

YEAR 2021

The company acquired the motor yacht Fairline Squadron 62.

YEAR 2022

In the spring of 2022, Toppilan Möljä Oy acquired the M/S Isosaari (now M/S Terwatoppila) ship.

YEAR 2022

Toppilan Möljä Oy and LP Management Oy acquired together the oldest steamship in Finland, the tug S/S Rauha.

YEAR 2022

The company acquired the motor yacht Elegance 68.

YEAR 2023

The most recent purchase to the fleet is the motor vessel M/V Wetteri (Targa 27.2 GT) for connection vessel use.

YEAR 2024

The company acquired the Nordstar 42+ yacht.

The Elegance 68 yacht and Targa 27.2 boat were sold.

YEAR 2007

Rukatop villa was built on top of Ruka in 2007.

Rukatop huvila rakennettiin Rukan huipulle vuonna 2007.


2018

Rukatop huvila myytiin ja yhtiö hankki ensimmäisen aluksensa Sunseeker Manhattan 60. Siitä alkoi tie kohti laivanvarustamoa.





2019

Meriankkuri Oy (entinen Rukatop Oy) hankki omistukseensa 45% LP Management Oy (VIP Cruise) höyrylaivayhtiöstä.





2020

Meriankkuri Oy osti 30% Toppilan Möljä Oy:sta, jolla on useita eri aluksia. 





2021

Yhtiö osti moottorijahdin Fairline Squadron 62.





2022
