The founder of Meriankkuri Oy is Markku Kankaala, multi-entrepreneur from the town of Ii, northern Finland. Markku has always been interested in boats and boating. He has been on the sea already as a child, and has since owned boats all his adult life. He started to acquire more boats for different purposes, and in this way the activities expanded. The actual shipping operations started in 2018, when he acquired his first motor yacht Sunseeker Manhattan 60. Since then, the boats have changed several times and their number has increased to nine. The companies Meriankkuri Oy (formerly RukaTop Oy), LP Management Oy and Toppilan Möljä Oy were founded around boating. As the owner and outfitter of four steamships, Markku is entitled to use the title "steamship fleet owner".
From Rukatop to fleet owner - from the top of the fell to the sea
Rukatop huvila rakennettiin Rukan huipulle vuonna 2007.
Rukatop huvila myytiin ja yhtiö hankki ensimmäisen aluksensa Sunseeker Manhattan 60. Siitä alkoi tie kohti laivanvarustamoa.
