The founder of Meriankkuri Oy is Markku Kankaala, a multi-industry entrepreneur from Ii in northern Finland. Markku has always had a strong interest in boats and boating. He has been at sea since childhood in Raahe and has owned boats throughout his adult life. Over time, his boating hobby gradually expanded, and he acquired a variety of vessels for different purposes. The company’s actual shipping operations began in 2018, when the first motor yacht, Sunseeker Manhattan 60, was acquired. Since then, the fleet has changed several times and grown in size. The companies Meriankkuri Oy (formerly RukaTop Oy) and Toppilan Möljä Oy were all established around boating activities.
From Rukatop to fleet owner - from the top of the fell to the sea
Rukatop huvila rakennettiin Rukan huipulle vuonna 2007.
Rukatop huvila myytiin ja yhtiö hankki ensimmäisen aluksensa Sunseeker Manhattan 60. Siitä alkoi tie kohti laivanvarustamoa.
Meriankkuri Oy (entinen Rukatop Oy) hankki omistukseensa 45% LP Management Oy (VIP Cruise) höyrylaivayhtiöstä.
Meriankkuri Oy osti 30% Toppilan Möljä Oy:sta, jolla on useita eri aluksia.
Yhtiö osti moottorijahdin Fairline Squadron 62.
Yhtiö osti moottorijahti Elegance 68:n.
